Summary: Chapter 10 is when we transition from young Jane, to grown Jane. After working at Lowood for 2 years, she decides to leave for another job; before she leave she receives a visit from Bessie, who gives Jane updates on what has happened since she left. Chapters 11 and 12 are introductory chapters to new characters, such as Adele, Mrs. Fairfax, and Mr. Rochester. There seem to be a connection between Jane and Mr. Rochester.

Quote: “...In those days I was young, and all sorts of fancies bright and dark tenanted my mind: the memories of nursery stories were there amongst other rubbish; and when they recurred, maturing youth added to them a vigour and vividness beyond childhood could give…”

Significance of Quote: Jane seems to reflect on her childhood a lot; her childhood must have been a huge impact . She will often look back on her young years because they were so cruel and difficult for her. A harsh childhood shaped Jane into who she is now.

Reflection: Janes decision to go to Lowood has definitely shaped her life in a good way: she has a good education, and went in a better direction than she would have gone with the Reeds. Her childhood may had been very harsh and difficult, but it molded her into who she is now; which is caring, intelligent, and superior than the Reed children. Every choice she had made led her to where she is now.. In a way, Mrs.Reeds cruelness was a good thing because of how much Jane learned and gained from it.

Question: How would Janes life be different if she didn't go to Lowood and later got rescued by her uncle?
